Unclaimed Property Division

The Unclaimed Property Division protects assets that belong to Kentuckians and works to return them to their rightful owners. These assets include items such as uncashed payroll checks, dormant bank accounts, unclaimed safe deposit box contents, old insurance policies, and vendor payments that were never received.

After a statutory period—typically three years—financial institutions and businesses transfer unclaimed property to the Kentucky State Treasury for safekeeping. Our office then maintains a searchable database so individuals, families, businesses, and local governments can find and reclaim what is theirs. The Unclaimed Property Division’s mission is to reunite every possible dollar with its rightful owner.

Accounting & Disbursements Division

The Accounting & Disbursements Division ensures that Kentucky’s public funds are managed accurately, securely, and in full compliance with state and federal law. This team is responsible for the timely deposit of incoming revenues from state agencies and for recording, monitoring, and reconciling all transactions in the Commonwealth’s depository and checking accounts.

The division also oversees payroll accounting and compliance functions, including the calculation and payment of federal, state, and local withholding taxes for state employees. It implements court-ordered wage attachments and vendor payment obligations, and it carries out critical responsibilities under the Federal Cash Management Act. Through careful oversight and disciplined financial practices, the division helps safeguard taxpayer dollars and maintain the integrity of Kentucky’s financial systems.

General Administration & Support Division

The General Administration and Support Division ensures the Kentucky State Treasury operates smoothly and effectively. This team manages internal operations, administrative services, and staff support so the Treasury can focus on serving the people of Kentucky.

The division oversees human resources coordination, information technology, procurement, records management, internal communications, and general office functions. Its work supports transparency, accountability, and high standards of service across the Treasurer's Office.
