The Unclaimed Property Division's duties for stocks and securities include processing any earnings or reinvesting shares that are accumulated while in the Kentucky State Treasury's possession. Stocks and securities are returned to owners after a claim is initiated by the property owner and processed by the Treasury. Per KRS 393A.410, the Kentucky State Treasury holds stocks and securities for three years before liquidating, unless instructed otherwise by the Kentucky Office of Financial Management in accordance with the Biennial Budget Bill.
